I was originally looking at a $70 camp bed to bring with me camping for my dog but decided to try this one out first. I'm glad I did. It's perfectly sizes, incredibly light and very durable. My dog loved laying on it and having the warm/cool sides worked well for switching between putting it down in the camp site during the day and in the tent at night. It stuffed a lot smaller than I thought it would after reading some reviews. It was definitely smaller than a sleeping bag when put into the stuff sack and could probably compress even more if you bought a different compression bag.

This bed is great for camping, outside use, and tossed on top of my pup's orthopedic bed. Purchased this bed for a 4 day camping trip. My dog took to it the minute it arrived at the house and I pulled it out for the packaging. The bed isn't super lofty (thick), but it is enough for a short trip; although I think my dog would sleep happily on it every night. When camping we put a therma-rest foam pad under it and it was perfect. It washes up perfectly and makes a great car bed as well.

Updated 10/1/17* ~Beds continue to keep their shape despite multiple washings and dryings (line dried or dryer on medium heat). No shifting of materials and no absurdly fluffing up of the filling like you can get when you toss some pillows into the dryer. Used on a regular basis both are still in very good condition. ~Initially purchased for camping but also used for the outdoor kennel, crates, place/settle training, and as a second layer on top of their plush dog beds. ~Quality made travel dog bed for a great price. Highly recommend. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Purchased for my 2 GSD's (80lbs & 93lbs 28-30in high and around 50-53 inches long not including tail as they tend to curl it around them when sleeping). Both dogs fit comfortably. An XL breed such as Great Dane, Newfie, or St Bernard would not fit on this bed. -Each bed comes with its own nylon stuff sack with a drawstring closure. They are lightweight beds, 2 inches thick (like a thin poly filled comforter or summer weight sleeping bag cut down to a dog bed size.) - Despite multiple washings and being compressed off and on for trips they have retained their loft. No tears, holes, or snags. -Stored in the stuff sacks they have a bulky shape (roughly the size of 1.5-2 basketballs stacked on one another), not an issue for car campers but maybe for some hikers. -As our dogs have gotten older I supplement the beds with closed-cell foam pads cut to size. This gives a little added cushion and insulation from the cold ground. -One side is a soft grey microfiber material that has baffles which prevent the filling from moving around. -The bottom is a light blue rip stop nylon material that if not water-proof is highly water resistant. I have sprayed the blue backside with a hose and the water just rolls off. Damp forest floor or condensation from a tent doesn't faze the bottom of these beds as the tops stayed nice n' dry. Coming out of the washer the front side tends to hold water so I prefer to line dry blue side up so the water can drip out of the gray material.

Awesome bed. I use this for Mac, a 90lb German Shepard/Lab/Weimaraner and he prefers it over his huge memory foam and goose down bed that cost an arm and a leg and a lumpy poly filled Kong we've had for years. This bed washes well. The blue side is a slick nylon type material, like a sleeping bag usually feels, while the grey side is soft microfiber. The blue side down is great for outdoor use so it doesn't pick up stickers, dirt, prickly weeds, and grass. It washes well and doesn't get lumpy! I think I'm going to pick another one up to actually keep in the car since he likes this one so much. Great, lightweight packable bed. A must have for all kinds of travel!

Update: we now have 4 dogs and 8 beds. 4 for home and 4 exclusively for travel/camping. The original bed is still going. These are built in chuck-it fashion....to last!! We have other beds indoors but if given the choice they prefer these to any bed we have or have tried. we've tried all types of beds - cheap beds, ridiculously expensive beds and just about every type of dog bed out there. Some are just not comfy. Some are hard to clean. Some are difficult to move around. This one hits the mark on all our points!! Lightweight. Comfy even through repeated washings! And the dogs love it so much I bought a second. We have 3 dogs. I plan to buy a third soon. We have them on our back porch - they get dirty. The dogs eat on them, roll on them, lay on them and just genuinely love them. We used to just leave beach towels out for them and now they have these. I plan to get 3 just for our camping gear as well - they come in a nice pack down pouch so they'll be easy to keep with our gear and stow/unpack on the go. I'll grab photos and add this weekend.

I may not be the typical purchaser but I hope this review helps someone. I bought this for my dog who has cancer and is at the vet A LOT. This has brought him a ton of comfort. When he has to stay he has his bed. I love that is easily portable, light weight, and washable. Recently we took to using this bed at home because he simply loves it so much.

We have two greyhounds- one 58lbs and the other 63lbs and bought two of these for them for traveling and meet & greets. Even though our dogs are pretty long, they fit on these beds pretty well and the price can't be beat. We already washed both of these and it was so much easier than washing a standard dog bed. I was surprised by the thickness of the bed too- seems similar to a sleeping bag. Included two pictures.

This travel bed is an incredible deal for $20. My 55 lb. cattle dog mix is a diva and hates laying on hard, cold, or damp surfaces, so I take this travel bed everywhere we go. As soon as I toss the bed on the ground she instantly plops down on it, whether we're on a deck enjoying happy hour or miles into the wilderness on a backpacking trip. She still gets chilly at night, so I pack an ultralight sleeping pad with me to insulate her from the cold ground. This bed is a great solution to keep wet/muddy paws off my sleeping bag! The only downside is it isn't super compressible, so she can't carry it herself. Best solution I've found is stuffing it in a small Sea to Summit compression sack and attaching it to the outside of my pack.

I bought this bed to use as a mobile mat for my dog when we're doing things like attending training classes or events, so she has a spot where she can settle in as her little quiet and calm zone when we're trying to work on something. She's been surprisingly eager to jump onto it when told to go to her mat, and she settles in really easily like it's comfortable for her, so I'm really happy with it. It's a lot thicker and more plush than I expected... kind of like a thick comforter. This bed is constructed very much like a little sleeping bag... it's got different material on each side, one like the inside of a sleeping bag and one like the outside. (The shinier side will be good for summer when the weather heats up.) It's also machine washable, which is a big deal for dog gear since it gets dirty so quick, and it's got a loop sewn in so you can hang it to dry if you want, which is nice (especially if you're camping and air drying is all you've got!). Even though I own some other Chuckit stuff and know it to be durable and well made, I honestly wasn't expecting this bed to be as great as it is... the travel dog beds I'd seen in my local pet stores were selling for 2-3x as much, so I thought this one might not last terribly long. I'm very happy to have been wrong.... I'd buy another of these in a heartbeat. I wouldn't use it as an everyday bed in my house (luckily my dog already has a ridiculous bolstered orthopedic foam bed at home, not to mention all of our human furniture :D) but for travel it's pretty terrific. My dog's on the medium to large side (about 55-60 pounds), and this bed is just the right size for her... she'd even have room for a friend or two, if I had any other smaller dogs. It comes with a little stuff sack, and it's easy to get the bed back into it; just fold the bed in half the long way, and then roll it like a sleeping bag, then slide the bag on over the end. The sack also has a flap on top to keep dust and dirt out, and a nice drawstring to shut it pretty tight, so I can throw it in my trunk with the rest of my dog gear and not worry about it too much. The bed has enough padding that the stuffed sack is a little bulky... I don't know that I'd use this if I was backpacking in somewhere and needed to carry it in (but let's be real, my dog insists on sleeping on me and doesn't need her own bed most of the time anyway :D), but I'm planning to keep using it in training classes and just keep it in my car for anytime we might need it. I'm sure it'll get a lot of use.

Update May 2019. I bought another one of these Chuckit! beds. After using the originally purchased bed around the house, in the car, etc., I ended up using it as a crate pad for my Border Collie over the last year while in dog class. It fits in the medium crate well. I like that it goes up the sides a bit (see picture) and I can collapse the crate down with the pad inside. Directions say to machine wash warm, tumble dry low. I have washed my original bed a few times, but I used cold water in our front loading washer and hung it up using the loop to dry. The original pad has held up great. I bought the second pad to use around the house, in the car, hikes, walks, etc., like I did with the first pad. For me, this travel pet bed has been a great find. Light, packable, washable, and my dog likes it. I originally purchased this bed in March of 2017 to use with clicker training as I wanted something light that I could easily take anywhere and this bed fits that need. I tried it gray side up and blue side up. The gray side definitely has a warmer feel to the touch. The blue side will make a rustling sound when rubbed, but it has not been a problem for us. I like the little loop tab on the bed that can be used to hang the bed on a hook to dry if it gets damp and I like that one can put the bed in the stuff bag to minimize the packing space needed when traveling. The bed is not thick, but it is just fine for using on the floor, ground, or in the vehicles. This bed is good for hiking, too. If you get in a windy situation, you can use a tent peg or something similar to stake the bed down using the loop. I have not washed this bed and if the need arises, I hope it will wash well because I really like it! I would definitely buy again.
